Nile Our Savior
Authored by Leah Eby in 2012, with technical contributions from Will Yetvin
Quietly situated among the cornfields and farmlands of southeastern Minnesota lies Our Savior’s Lutheran Church* in the city of Faribault, a town of relative ethnic and religious diversity amidst the generally homogeneous demographic landscape of rural Minnesota. While Faribault is home to significant populations of Latino and Somali immigrants, the Sudanese community there remains relatively small and unstudied.
*"Our Savior’s” refers to the English-speaking congregation while “Nile Our Savior” refers to the Sudanese congregation started by Wal Reat within Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
