Activities Outside of Services

To discuss Bethlehem Baptist Church exclusively in terms of its worship services does not represent the depth and breadth of the church’s mission. The church's non-worship activities range from evangelizing Muslims in nearby Minneapolis to book clubs for teen girls. The calendar on the Bethlehem Baptist website displays the broad range of activities at the church. On one summer week in 2024, Bethlehem Baptist offered a men's group, prayer practice for high school boys, and a gathering for young adults, to name a few.

On a 2012 visit, we got a close look at two women’s groups. The first group, the White Cross, makes baby blankets for the firstborn children of church members and also rolls bandages for missionaries to take overseas. Many of the same women attended a second women’s group called “Bethlehem Women’s Circles of Prayer,” where once a month a recently returned female missionary (who is a part of the Global Partners at Bethlehem program) addressed the group about the mission work that she had done and witnessed to the path that brought her to her mission work.
