Sikh Gurdwara

The Sikh Society of Minnesota emerged about thirty years ago. It began as a group of between five and ten families who gathered in homes to worship together. They gathered in homes where a Guru Granth Sahib was installed, or else brought it to a home for worship. Eventually, as the local Sikh population grew, they established a Gurdwara in Fridley, MN which served between fifty and one hundred families. When this space became too small, the community purchased and renovated a church, and the Gurdwara moved to its current location in Bloomington, MN. Members of the Gurdwara estimate that it serves a community of between 400 and 500 families.

The Gurdwara is open at all times, with biweekly worship services and community meals. The community gathers from approximately 7pm to 9:30pm on Friday evenings and approximately 10am - 1:30pm on Sundays. Because of the fluid nature of Sikh worship, these times are can vary based on turnout, special occassions, visiting musicians, and other factors.
